Visual Studio 2005 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies

Visual Studio 2005 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies

Product Description
A thorough revision to the Visual Studio 2005 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies makes this the ideal book for new programmersor Java programmers looking to get up and running with Visual Studio. The book will be a comprehensive, value-priced reference for the entire Visual Studio 2005. Microsoft’s catch-phrase for Visual Studio 2005 is personal productivity. The goal of personal productivity is to allow the developer to work at a higher level of abstraction. The goal of this book is to show the reader how to buildapplications using these productivity features of VS. As a result, language syntax and programming constructs are de-emphasized in favor of showing the user how to let VS generate the code.

This book takes a layered approach similar to how most applications are architected. When developing a new application, developersoften divide up the work for the user interface, service layer (data access), and domain classes (coding). Whether there is one developer playing all three roles, or three developers doing each, this approach allows the reader to easily reference the layer they are constructing. Minibooks include:

Book I: Visual Studio 2005 Overview.

Book II: Getting Started with Visual Studio.

Book III: Building Applications with Visual Studio 2005.

Book IV: Getting Acquainted with Data Access.

Book V: Coding.

Book VI: Going the Extra Mile.

Book VII: Extending the Family.

“New and enhanced features in Base SAS save you time, effort, and system resources
by providing faster processing and easier data access and management, more robust
    analysis, and improved data presentation.
By using new SAS system options that enable threading and the use of multiple
CPUs, the following SAS procedures take advantage of multi-processing I/O:
SORT, SQL, MEANS, TABULATE, and REPORT.
You can now use longer, easier-to-read names for user-created formats and
informats. See “Rules for Words and Names in the SAS Language” in SAS
    Language Reference: Concepts.
Two pre-defined component objects for the DATA step enable you to quickly store,
search, and retrieve data based on lookup keys.
The FILENAME statement now supports directory services, multiple FTP service
commands, and Secure Sockets Layering (SSL).
The Application Response Measurement (ARM) system enables you to monitor the
availability and performance of transactions within and across diverse applications.
The Perl regular expression (PRX) functions and CALL routines use a modified
version of Perl as a pattern-matching language to enhance search-and-replace
    operations on text.
New character functions search and compare character strings in addition to
    concatenating character strings.
There are several new descriptive statistic functions and mathematical functions.
New formats, informats, and functions support international and local values for
money, datetime, and Unicode values. All data set options, formats, informats,
functions, and system options that relate to national language support are
documented in the new SAS National Language Support (NLS): User’s Guide.
A new ODS statement enables you to render multiple ODS output formats without
re-running a PROC or a DATA step. See the SAS Output Delivery System: User’s
    Guide.

Adobe Flash Platform ActionScript reference for RIA development:

    >> Wednesday, July 1, 2009

This ActionScript reference for rich Internet application development provides an alphabetical reference for all native ActionScript APIs for the Adobe Flash platform runtimes: Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR—as well as the Adobe Flex framework APIs. Use this guide both as an API reference and a tool to learn about the ActionScript APIs available within the runtimes.

    Download the guide:

The Adobe Flash platform contains two primary runtimes (see Figure 1). Flash Player is browser-based, and Adobe AIR is desktop-based. Because Adobe AIR is built on top of Flash Player, the Flash Player APIs are available within Adobe AIR. Consequently, Adobe AIR APIs are not available within Flash Player. The Flex framework is built on top of the Flash Player APIs, so it runs in both Flash Player and Adobe AIR. However, a number of Flex APIs take advantage of AIR APIs, and thus work only within Adobe AIR.
